--=BIRTH OF A SAND/DESERT CAR, Brake Line Hook Up=--

Hooking The Brake Lines
Making the brake lines. I bought steel brake lines from Pahrump Auto Parts, a NAPA source here in Pahrump, NV... 3/16 American Flare hard lines and proceeded to mount them. 2 - 60 inch lines for each rear brake... Connecting the 2, 60 inch hard lines with a sleeve. Mounting brackets(soft rubber mounted to hold the line) were also purchased and 1/4 bolts were welded to run the hard lines for each rear brake into the cockpit.

For the front brakes, I mounted some home made tabs with 3/4 inch holes and clips to hold the rubber flex line from the hubs. Then proceeded to rebend the the old metric bubble flare tubing. Kinda ragged but cause it was already bent from a previous installion.... It will work. Also welding 1/4 bolts to mount the lines in some rubberized clamps. Its getting closer to where the master cylinder for the brake pedal will be installed. Just waiting on the master cylinder/pedal assembly to arrive from the DOGHOUSE. Its a 7/8 single bore, tall reservoir. I will still need some small hard lines to connect it all. I need to install a residual pressure line (2 psi) valve, t-fittings, turning brake valves and brake light switch. I also would like to install a proportioning valve to control front and rear brake actuation from the dash... But all in do time.

I made up some tabs and drilled them to mont the rubber soft lines from the front hubs on the VW front end. Securing them with some clips.....

Above right its getting congestested between the seats where the shifter and turning brakes will go...... Below left is a view along the left frame rail of the brake line and throttle cable.

Above right its getting congested with tubing, hoses and wires. Its on the right side of the motor....
