Cooling System - The Cooling Lines
Here's how I plumbed the radiator to the motor. Though a little heavy and overkill, I used
1.5 inch .095 tubing to hook the radiator to the motor, then cut some rubber radiator
tubing to connect it all. Plus some rubber mounted bracing to hold it all in place....
Here's the upper radiator connection.....
I put a welded bead around the tube to keep the rubber hose connection from blowing off. Also
a top brace was made and will be rubber mounted for vibration....
U can't see it, but the U-bolt is rubber mounted to a welded on bracket.I also had bought
a 4 ft. by 8 ft. sheet of .065 aluminum for the side skin and firewall. For the floor board
I will order 1/4 in. 4 x 6 foot piece of perforated aluminum....
I cut the aluminum with an air shear from Harbor Freight after careful measuring. Then clamped
it to the sides where I had welded some brackets...Another aluminum .065 sheet will be needed
to finish the sides back to the motor and up front.... Then, I drilled holes and put short 3/8 bolts
and nuts in to hold it on. What is left of the sheet aluminum is almost enough to do do
the firewall behind the seats. I'll have to pull the seats back out to put the brackets
and aluminum in for the firewall... Also a piece of insulation (the aluminum covered hard foam stuff
they use on houses called cellotex) as the headers, motor, etc. will generate an awful lot of heat...
I'll also mount a piece of 1/4 inch diamond plate aluminum in between the seats
to mount the shifter, turning brakes and possibly a parking brake.
