The LAKE HAVASU CLASSIC FLOAT PLANE FLYIN sponsered by ARIZONA DESERT HAWKS was FANTASTIC! GREAT early November 2001 weather and good food, plus 3 days of float plane excitement. We hooked up the travel trailer late Friday and headed to Lake Havasu from Las Vegas. About a 3 hour drive. Crossing LONDON BRIDGE in Lake Havasu we wound up at the flying field. Saturday morning I was awoken by the sound of many RC aircraft being flown. The sight of floatplanes flying off water and landing is awesome. Very different than flying from ground. The rescue boats constantly retrieved downed aircraft. But most flew successfully. It was an awesome 3 days and an event I will never forget. Below are some pictures I took during this fabulous event! Saturday was the most crowded with some tapering off of spectators and participants. It was AWESOME!

The Twin Amphibian below is scratch built and was voted Best of Show. And it justly deserved it as it was awesome in flight, sound and on the ground!
