--=BIRTH OF A SAND/DESERT CAR, Rear End Outer Hubs and Brakes--

Dismanteling The Outer Brakes and Hubs!!!!
I pulled the wheels off and brake drum. I needed to dissassemble the outer hubs and inspect them, plus maybe regrease the bearings before puting them into service..... I'm not familiar with Ford IRS Hubs. So, it was a touch and go on dissassembly.....Plus who knows what I'll find seeing how this rearend assembly was from a junkyard.....

A 1 & 7/16 socket is needed for the axle stub nut. I also need to replace the upper suspension arm bushing with one of my custom made polyurethane bushings that use American standard size bolts as I did with the lower ones.........

The axle stub stayed hooked up to the CV joint... Not sure how THAT will come apart.

Above right the bushing is being readied for the press. There are 2 bearings in the hub, both held in by large C-Clips.....

I'll rebuild the wheel cylinders, put a brake hardware package in, new brake shoes and new drum to finish it out......

Above, everything is put in the parts washer tank for cleaning and prep for reassemble.... I'll prob sandblast everything when my sandblaster arrives......
